Statement
My paintings explore humanity's timeless fascination with the mysteries of the universe, inviting viewers on a journey of self-discovery. The paintings ask if our minds and energy can transcend the physical boundary to connect with the cosmos. Whether there is a definite answer, we are invited to seek inner peace amidst the chaos along the journey.
In the paintings, symbols abound — spheres, mist, light, ripples, swirls, and holes. They exist in undefined space, alluding to both the cosmic vastness and the intricate landscapes of the mind. When painting, I often contemplate themes of the boundless expanse of the void, the non-linear perception of time, and the contrast and co-existence of transience and immortality. I am inspired by theories presented in physicist Carlo Rovelli's book "The Order of Time ”, Carl Jung's research into the collective unconscious, and the understanding of the deep self through art. I am also influenced by Buddhist philosophies emphasizing rediscovering the fulfilled heart in a transient world. My paintings are often meditative. They whisper to the viewers and beckon them into a realm of contemplation.
I typically apply translucent layers of paint combined with creamy paints on wood panels or canvases, using deliberate brushstrokes to create an ethereal and atmospheric lighting effect. My works often feature vibrant ultramarine blue, deep cool black, various tinted grays, and light shades of red and green. These palettes exude tranquility and a sense of frozen time.
